Involving Students

“Involve students in the discussion about learning-centered environments. As educators we have all sorts of conversations about learning-centered environments (also referred to as learner-centered or student-centered). But the missing participant in those discussions is, ironically, the student.

“Involve students in the discussion about learning-centered environments. As educators we have all sorts of conversations about learning-centered environments (also referred to as learner-centered or student-centered). Once we’ve satisfied ourselves that we are going to implement the best practices of learning-centered pedagogies, we go into classrooms of individuals who are largely unaware of what learning-centered teaching is, and apply it to them. In some cases, perhaps “inflict” is a better word. The only people in the room not involved in the discussion about learning-centered education are the learners.”
