About Me
Born in the northeast, I lived my teen and young adult years in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. In the mid-1970s I picked up my backpack and moved to western Oregon.
Over the ensuing years I lived in Oregon, Nevada, Colorado and Idaho. I worked in various sectors, ranging from science, technology, education, design and the arts. Eventually I found my way back to Oregon.
When I was young I wanted to do two things: teach and write. But I knew that becoming a teacher, or a writer, had to be earned through experience.
Teaching has never been my career. Teaching has always been my life's work.
Writing is my palette for understanding the world and who I am as a person.
Together, this is where my deep gladness meets the world's deep need.
